Congratulations to Burlesque superstar Sarah Kedward who completed the Amsterdam marathon with her sister, raising £400 for the Alzheimers Society. The amazing achievement was captured as her and her sister ran through the line hand in hand! Well done Sarah!

In addition to Cally & Sarah achieving their color accolade, a further four of our girls have completed a course in long hair which has given them unsurpassed skills in the art of working with long hair. Carly, Rosie, Grace & Adele have all taken part in the course and perfected their skills in this area. They now have the expert ability to carry out exceptional ‘hair up’ styles, funky updos, quick & easy styles and honed their skills in all areas of working with longer hair.
The course was taught by industry renowned stylist Michael Barnes – the master of Avant Garde. With nearly 40 years industry experience and an enviable reputation for being the master of long hair, you can only imagine the success of the graduates who come out of the course. The girls are available for appointments immediately.

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that two of our very talented staff have recently graduated as Color Experts having completed one of the most prestigious colour courses in the country at the Goldwell Hair Academy in London. Sarah and Cally are now Color Experts with the skills and knowledge that very few courses in the whole of Europe can provide. The intensive course is closely inspected by Goldwell experts and has given both girls the expertise to become master educators and color specialists within our salons - to provide our clients with optimum advice in color selection, application and style creation.
Here at Burlesque we want only the best for the staff in terms of knowledge and expertise and even in the tough economic climate it’s still paramount to us as a professional salon that we strive to achieve and maintain only the highest possible standards of work from the staff here. You can book in with Sarah in both Usk & Caerleon through the week and Cally at the Newport Salon.
In our last newsletter we announced the departure of our Usk Salon Manager – Joff. Joff leaving has understandably been a great loss for the Usk Salon, but we have worked incredibly hard to put our all into Usk and believe the salon is better than ever in terms of strength and creative direction.
We have had some of our best staff working there in recent week’s and will continue to do so - Our salon director Dave now works Tuesdays & Fridays and our Head Educator Sarah is working Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays.
We’re really pleased that Joff’s departure has had nothing but a positive effect on the professional environment at Usk and the staff there continue to provide an excellent service to all of our clients and a seamless continuity to Joff’s existing clients.
We had a celeb in the midst this week, which is always exciting stuff! We were able to give Natalie Cassidy (who most of you will know as Sonia from Eastenders!) a shampoo & conditioner, and she was over the moon! She is working on a new fitness DVD and was in the area shooting promotional work - and she chose Burlesque for all her hair-related needs! We were thrilled to help out and she was so happy in-fact, she tweeted the news to her quarter of a million followers! We wish her the very best with all her upcoming projects!
We would like to send out huge congratulations to both Helen Jenkins and Rosie Pinch who have recently progressed to graduate stylists and are going from strength to strength. They have excelled in the thorough Burlesque training system and have both emerged as incredibly competent hairdressers and are keen to show off their expertise. As many of you may already know, Joff - our manager at Usk is sadly leaving us to enter a whole new Career path in education as a training manager. Joff has been a huge asset to Burlesque in Usk and has played an undeniable part in both the growth and in creating a wonderful culture in the salon.
Joff started with Burlesque around 9 years ago, his natural flair for hairdressing was apparent immediately and he swiftly progressed into a more senior position in the organisation. He whole-heartedly took on the role of manger at Usk and played a fundamental part in creating a friendly, professional culture there.
He will be missed deeply by everyone at Burlesque and we’re sure many of you will feel the same way. The whole team would like to extend a massive thank you for his unrivaled professionalism over the last 6 years.
Joff leaves behind a very strong, creative team who can offer exclusive continuity to Joff's clients through their expertise and vast professionalism.
We want to wish him all the best in his new career and for all his future endeavors. We will miss you Joff!
